Methi Paratha is a nutritious Indian flatbread made with wheat flour and fresh fenugreek leaves. Here's how you can make it:-
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat
flour
- 1 cup fresh fenugreek
(methi) leaves, finely chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander
powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili
powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
powder
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 cup water
- Additional flour for
dusting
- Ghee or oil for
cooking
Instructions:-
1. In a large mixing
bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, finely chopped fenugreek leaves, salt,
cumin seeds, coriander powder, red chili powder, and turmeric powder.
2. Add the oil to the
mixture and mix it in with your hands until the mixture resembles coarse
crumbs.
3. Slowly add the water,
a little at a time, and knead the dough until it comes together and is smooth
and elastic. You may not need to use all the water.
4. Cover the dough with
a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
5. Divide the dough into
equal-sized balls (about the size of a golf ball).
6. Take one of the dough
balls and dust it with flour. Roll it out into a flat, round disc about 6-7
inches in diameter.
7. Heat a griddle or a
frying pan over medium-high heat.
8. Place the rolled-out
paratha on the hot griddle or frying pan and cook for 1-2 minutes or until
small bubbles start to appear on the surface.
9. Flip the paratha over
and spread some ghee or oil on the surface.
10.
Cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes or until golden brown spots
appear on the surface.
11.
Remove the paratha from the griddle or frying pan and place it on a
plate lined with a paper towel to absorb any excess oil or ghee.
12.
Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
13.
Serve the hot and nutritious Methi Paratha with some plain yogurt,
pickle or chutney of your choice. Enjoy!
